A Child With A Rose

Standing alone on a road, with smile on his lips,
when he came closer, I saw tears in his eyes,
It was really heart touching,
the ocean of feelings in my heart started to rise.
He came more closer and gave me a rose,
After seeing hopes in eyes, I suddenly froze.
It was 8 in the morning; I was on my way to work,
And that little chap was selling flowers on mid of the road.
I saw his little hands, his clothes were soiled,
He was bare feet and his hairs were coiled.
Very softly he said 5 Rupees please,
While giving him the money, I noticed bruises on his knees.
I wanted to know how he got hurt,
Fell somewhere? Or was bitten by someone under whom he used to work.
That little fellow refused to reply,
Suddenly ran away like as he had wings to fly.
I followed him till a narrow by lane,
I saw few kids smaller to him in his hut, crying instead of playing innocent childhood games.
He was first shocked when he saw me,
Then came closer and gave me a look with a brilliant glee.
His mother came and asked who was i?
I told her that I am just a passerby.
I wanted so many things, thousands of questions in my mind,
But after meeting his siblings and mother, I got answers to the questions I wanted to find.
I said nothing much, just left his shanty home,
And the questions I had were all long gone.

He had rags, rash elbow, tired eyes and a smile,
Don't know if because of prospective buyer or is a regular guile,
I wonder what crossed your mind,
questions made you follow him,
and answers that made your forget those within a while.
It goes deep inside everyday,
for me sometimes they do go away,
but such memories never decays.

Hi Madhur
used to see him everyday, though never paid attention,
it was a beautiful day, mind was relaxed, had no tension.
It was his innocent smile, that capture my thought,
followed him blindly, mind was totally engrossed.
It was his family n younger siblings that explained me everything,
lack of amenities n poverty all around, were part of vicious ring.

they who start with a why, are never able to embark, but those who seek why to find out how make a mark.

earlier i felt a how, now it seems a why

Hey Francis
First thanks for the visit.
Second, what u said was true.
Just 2-3 days back i was at Nehru Place in morning.
It was too hot. Took an auto..and suddenly there was dis woman on a red light. She was begging. It was only when she came closer, i realised that she had a 2-3 months baby in her hands.
I was left speechless..ddnt knew how to respond..wanted to help but how..Kept on looking towards the infant.
How vl he survive in such a harsh weather.
But i was clueless. Wasn't able to do anything except giving her some money.
Bt whenever m alone. i just keeping on wishing for that child's health.
